ANM (Auxiliary Nursing and Midwifery)

ANM admission usually begins in the month of September. Admission in Delhi is done by the various government and private nursing schools available in Delhi. There is no central state conducting body for conducting admission into the course.

Auxiliary Nursing and Midwifery is a two-year diploma in the field of Nursing field. Admission will be solely based on state-level merit, with no entrance exam conducted. It primarily deals with the healthcare sector. The course provides knowledge about setting up operation theatre, taking care of various equipment, maintaining records, and also administering timely medication to patients.

The required eligibility criteria for pursuing ANM courses is that candidates have to score a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in their 10+2 exams. The minimum age limit for applying for this course is 17 years and is restricted to 35 years.

ANM Nursing Syllabus focuses on providing basic nursing and medical skills to provide medical assistance to the doctor or more experienced nurses.

Generally, Child Health Nursing, Health Promotion, Midwifery, Health Care Management, and Primary, and Community Health Nursing, are the subjects of ANM. An aspirant desiring to pursue this course needs to have patience, should be alert, be physically fit, and have responsibility.

ANM has good career scope as well, and has multiple job opportunities, in various areas, including NGOs, Government Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Private Hospitals, etc.
