No IELTS/TOEFL Needed:-To be eligible for MBBS admission abroad, students need not pass any proficiency exams like IELTS/TOEFL, despite the curriculum being taught entirely in English.

Low NEET Cutoff:-The minimum marks required to be eligible for MBBS in abroad are way less than that of India. Compared to 600 marks for a good Indian medical college, the cutoff for abroad is 130 (General) and 108 (SC/ST/OBC).

Favorable Teacher Student Ratio:-Classes are much less crowded in universities abroad. The maximum teacher-student ratio is 1:15 in most universities.


While each country would have its own set of rules and eligibility criteria for international students wanting to pursue MBBS abroad, here we are going to talk about the general eligibility guidelines for Indian students wanting to pursue MBBS among the top countries overseas

The student is required to have attained the age of 17 on December 31 of the year he/she is pursuing his/her admission. There is no upper age limit to apply for MBBS abroad.

Candidates looking to pursue MBBS abroad are required to satisfy the below-mentioned academic requirements.

  • The student must have completed his 10+2 from a recognized board.
  • The student must have an aggregate percentage of at least 50% or above in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and must have studied English as a compulsory subject during his 10+2 years. For reserved category candidates (SC/ST/OBC), the aggregate score is 40%.

Students are also required to qualify for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET).

This is mandatory even if the student is planning to pursue his medical studies abroad.

  • The candidate would also be required to produce an Eligibility Certificate issued by the Medical Council of India (MCI) at the time of admission to Foreign Medical Universities.

Admission process for studying MBBS abroad

विदेश में एमबीबीएस की पढ़ाई के लिए प्रवेश प्रक्रिया

Once the candidate has satisfied the eligibility requirements. He can move on to the next step which is the application process to study MBBS abroad. Candidates are required to select their preferred MBBS University and fill out the online international student application form to start the admission process.

Applicants would be required to upload a set of documents as part of the application procedure to further strengthen their academic profile. These include:

  • Class 10 and 12 mark sheets
  • School Leaving & School Migration Certificate
  • NEET Score Card
  • Personal Financial Statements
  • Statement of purpose
  • Resume (CV)
  • Letter of Recommendation
  • Language Proficiency Certificate (if any)
  • Passport Size Photographs
  • Medical Certificate

On the successful submission of the online application form along with the fee, candidates would hear back from the university with an admission letter. They would be then required to apply for their student visa along with their passport, original documents, and letter of acceptance from the university.

Medical Council of India was conducting Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE) in the last years, Now replaced by Exit Examination by NMC.

National Exit Test is called the Exit test as candidates will either pass or fail the test. They will have to score 50 % marks to qualify for the test.

1. The medium of instruction of the medical course pursued by the student should be English.

2. The medical course pursued should be at least 54 months, as in India

3. After MBBS, a student must complete 12 months of internship in the same foreign medical university/hospital

4. After completion of MBBS, a student must be registered as a medical doctor in that country

“Whichever college follows these four rules or has registration in that country or is recognized by WHO, then Indian students can take admission in such foreign universities. After that, they can come to India and pass the NExT exam like other students.
