Key Points of National Healthcare Provider Registry (NHPR)

1. Purpose and Scope The NHPR is a comprehensive digital repository for registered and verified healthcare professionals (doctors, nurses, etc.) and healthcare facilities (hospitals, clinics, labs, pharmacies) across India. It is part of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, aiming to digitally connect healthcare professionals and facilities for interoperable healthcare services.

2. Registration Process for Healthcare Professionals

Registration is done via the NHPR portal

3. Profile Management

Users can edit their profile (change mobile, email, role),

change password (via old password, Aadhaar OTP, or mobile OTP),

and perform re-KYC (re-verification using Aadhaar OTP).

4. Post-Verification Functionalities Once verified by the relevant council or authority, additional features become available:

Participate in Healthcare Workforce Mobility: Professionals can create a profile for workforce mobility, including preferred countries, qualifications, and visa/passport details.

Medical Certificate: Verified modern medicine doctors can issue and e-sign medical certificates for patients.

Healthcare Professional ID Card: View and download the official HPR-ID card.

Download Digital Certificate: Doctors from all systems of medicine can download their digital certificate.

Add Additional Qualifications: Professionals can add and upload documents for new qualifications.

Logout: Securely log out from the portal.

5. Data Collection and Verification Only essential information is collected for verification (demographics, contact, registration, academic, and work details). Mandatory fields are marked and must be filled for cross-verification. Academic qualifications should be those registered with the relevant council.

6. Security and Compliance The process ensures only verified professionals and facilities are onboarded, with approval from authorized bodies. E-signature and OTP-based authentication are used for secure submissions and profile updates.

Example Implementation: A doctor registering on the NHPR portal would: Go to the portal and select registration via Aadhaar. Enter Aadhaar details, verify via OTP, and fill in personal, qualification, and work details. Upload registration and degree certificates. Preview and e-sign the profile for submission. After verification, access features like issuing medical certificates and downloading their digital ID card.
